Overview of the Trade Mission to Japan

From September 28 to October 5, 2025, the Union of Meat Industry Producers and Employers (UPEMI) organised a trade mission to Japan as part of the project “European Beef in Asian Markets – Continuation.” The project sought to reinforce the presence and recognition of European beef in the Japanese market through various promotional activities, meetings with business partners, and an analysis of current consumer trends.

During the stay in Osaka, mission attendees participated in the Polish-Japanese Investment Forum, which was attended by government officials, industry organisations, and entrepreneurs from Poland and Japan. This event provided an opportunity to showcase the qualities of European beef and engage in direct discussions with Japanese partners to identify new areas for trade cooperation.

A key component of the programme was an industry seminar held in Tokyo on 3 October 2025. It centred on the economic ties between Poland and Japan, European and Japanese beef production standards, and the potential to increase exports to this challenging market. The event featured B2B sessions, enabling European and Japanese entrepreneurs to interact directly and forge business relationships.

Furthermore, the mission participants carried out study visits (store checks) to retail outlets in Tokyo to gain insights into the local trade environment and understand the preferences of Japanese consumers.

This mission is a continuation of UPEMI’s long-term strategy to strengthen the position of European beef in Asian markets and to build lasting relationships with partners in Japan, one of the most prestigious and demanding markets in the region.
